Ozone Process for Denim

Our invention is called Ozone Process for Denim for apparel industry specifically for denim industry. Dry or raw denim, as opposed to washed denim, is a denim fabric that is not washed after being dyed during its production. Over time, denim will generally fade, which is often considered desirable. In today’s market place, washed denim is highly more desirable for consumer than raw denim, since it is ready to wear with designs that one wants. Designs of denim jean consist of 3 parts,

  • Fit and type of jean – bootcut, flare, skinny, etc
  • Sewing and stitching
  • Washing

Wash (laundry) industry for denim has been engaged in developing wash techniques. Simple wash for denim involves following process.

  • Dry Process – destruction of jean where desired
  • Potassium Spray – use of chemical to color down where desired
  • Neutralization – using chemical and heated water to neutralize potassium
  • Rinse – clean the garment with pocket white
  • Silicon – soften the garment
  • Extract and Dry


Due to the strongly oxidizing properties of ozone, ozone clean and bleach fabrics. In our ozone denim process, ozone cleans and bleaches area where conventionally treated by potassium and pocket white.

With our invention of Ozone Process, we are able to eliminate some Potassium Spray and Neutralization Process and use of pocket white in Rinse Process, thus saving

  • Energy – not using hot water
  • Water Usage – entirely skipping Neutralization Process
  • Chemical Cost – no pocket white
  • Cost of Labor – no Potassium Spray
  • Cost of Sewer Charge – less water and chemical usage
